“Becoming Friends With God”

Reverend Dr. Nancy Wilson’s sermon focuses on a reading from the Wisdom of Solomon, in which Wisdom is personified, and given a mission: “In each generation, She passes into holy souls and makes them friends of God, and prophets.” Who is she speaking about? Could it be us?
In our gospel reading, Jesus is telling the disciples that he is building a new kind of beloved community, in which we are not his servants, but his friends. Why is that important, and how can we claim our friendship with God, with Jesus and with each other in these challenging times?
