The Passionate Jesus: In Defense of Justice October 4, 2020

Sunday – October 4 – 10AM

(series continues through Oct. 25)

Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.” – John 7:37-38

Authenticity, Love, Anger, Fear, Grief, Joy – emotions that are all very human and all very Jesus. This series affirms the role of human emotions and that Jesus – fully human as well as divine – indeed had emotions too. This Sunday, we will focus on the topic of Anger. This has been called the “gunpowder of the soul” – which can be used helpfully to blast away injustice or used harmfully, causing injury and destruction of innocent lives. Christianity’s relationship with anger has been all over the map in terms of how it works as part of our spiritual and emotional well-being. A look at the anger demonstrated by Jesus will help us redefine our relationship to this powerful emotion – a way to kindle the flame of justice rather than burn down the whole house.
